A Variety of Gold Coins Including The New Buffalo Gold Coin
Gold Bullion includes the American Gold Eagle, which is produced in 1 oz., 1/2 oz., 1/4 oz., and 1/10 oz. denominations. They have been produced since 1986 and features a modified Ausgustus Saint-Gaudens design on the obverse and a family of eagles on the reverse. Uncirculated American Eagles are not sold to the general public. They can only be sold through authorized buyers (dealers). These buyers buy the coins from the mint at the going spot price plus a premium and sell them to other dealers, who in turn sell them to the general public.
The American Buffalo Gold Proof Coin is another coin release for sale by the mint in 2006 and is the collectors version as minted by United States Mint and are limited see production figures below.The design was based on the original 1913, Type I Buffalo nickel, that was designed by James Earle Fraser. The obverse features a profile of a Native American Indian with the reverse featuring an American Buffalo or a bison as known by many. The 2006 American Buffalo Gold Proof 1 Oz. Coin comes packaged in a blue velvet presentation case and is accompanied by a custom-designed Certificate of Authenticity, which was signed by the Deputy Director of the United States Mint.
